Person using Ohio Land Surveyor Stamp on architectural blueprint. Blog post: Ohio Land Surveyor Stamp.

The Ohio land surveyor stamp has a fairly simple design to it. In many ways, it looks like most surveyor stamps issued by other states all around the country. Still, the details of this stamp are important because, if any of them are off, your work could be invalidated years after it’s done. Therefore, take a look at the following to confirm yours is compliant before you begin applying it.

Dimensions of the Ohio Land Surveyor Stamp

The Ohio land surveyor stamp is circular in shape and has a diameter that measures 1-3/4". However, if you’re using the embossing seal—either is just fine—the diameter is going to be 1-5/8."

The Appearance of the Ohio Land Surveyor Stamp

Like we touched on at the beginning, the Ohio land surveyor stamp doesn’t involve an especially intricate design, so you should be able to check off the necessary details of its appearance pretty quickly. This is all the more reason to handle this task now instead of putting it off.

The perimeter of the stamp has perforations to it. Inside, there is a circle, only this one is outlined in a bold line. Between this circle and the stamp’s perimeter, you’ll read, “State of Ohio” at the top. Then, “Professional Surveyor” is going to be run across the bottom. Inside the inner circle is where your name goes as it appeared on your application. It will appear just about in the middle. Below your name should be your license number. All license numbers in the state have to involve an “S”-prefix in order for the Ohio land surveyor stamp to be recognized.

Another vital component of the Ohio land surveyor stamp is the word “Registered.” This has to appear at the very bottom of the inner circle, or it won’t be of any use.

Those features are all you really need to look for on your Ohio land surveyor stamp to make sure that it is compliant and ready for use. The only real difference you need to consider, then, is just the change in diameter between the embosser and rubber stamp. Again, either option is just fine to use for surveyors in Ohio.
